“Subjects, the carriers of paint, human forms, faces, vessels of identity, made nebulous through paint, rendered from found images; photography, film; disappearing, reappearing in the process - remade in another medium, to become garbled memories. They may reflect the zeitgeist in some form, looking at identity, power, narrative; never spoon-fed to the viewer.
Subjects hide behind the paint - armatures for texture, form, colour. All painting and mark making is abstract and the paint is the primary bearer of the message, much like tone is to music. Through a marriage of intention and risk, vibrancy emerges; the intangible, transcendent potential energy of paint.”
